Privacy Policy

Lectio Cards keeps your study data on your device, and never collects your name, email, location, or advertising identifiers. It is a Greek and Hebrew Bible-study flash-card app. If you turn on syncing, you sign in and we identify you by an account identifier — not your name or email — and store only your study progress against it, so it can follow you to your other devices.

What the app stores on your device

Everything you do in Lectio Cards is stored locally on your device, in a private database inside the app’s sandbox:

• Your decks and cards.
• Your study progress — which cards you have seen, passed, or failed, and when.
• Your settings and preferences (text size, display options, and similar).

This data never leaves your device unless you turn on the optional sync feature described below.

Signing in and syncing

Syncing is optional. If you turn it on, you sign in through a sign-in provider (for example, Google, Apple, or an email login). We use sign-in only to recognize you across your own devices — we identify you by an account identifier, an opaque ID with no link to your real-world name.

• We do not store your name or email on our servers. Your sign-in provider handles the login itself and holds your email under its own privacy policy; we only ever receive an account identifier from it.
• Once you are signed in, your devices sync a journal of study events — card identifiers, timestamps, and pass/fail counts — stored on our server against your account.
• Each device also has a random device identifier, used only to keep events in order and avoid duplicates.

Sync never includes free-text you type, your contacts, your location, or any advertising or tracking identifier.

What we do not collect

Lectio Cards has no:

• Analytics or usage tracking.
• Crash-reporting telemetry tied to your identity.
• Advertising, ads, or advertising identifiers.
• Access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera, photos, or health data.
• In-app purchases or payment data.

We never store your name or email on our servers — sign-in is handled by your provider, and we hold only an account identifier. The app requests none of the device permissions listed above.

Children

Lectio Cards is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. There is no user-generated content shared with others, no ads, and no open web browsing inside the app.

Your rights (GDPR and similar)

The only identifier we hold for you is an opaque account ID, with no name or email attached, so there is no personal profile to export.

• On-device data: uninstall the app to remove all local study data.
• Synced data: contact us to delete the study data stored against your account. You can also remove your login itself through your sign-in provider.

Data retention

• Data on your device is kept until you delete a deck or uninstall the app.
• If you use sync, the study-event journal stored against your account is retained while sync is in use, and deleted on request as described above.

Security

• Sign-in is handled by your provider; we receive only an account identifier, never your password.
• Sync data is sent over an encrypted TLS connection.
• On-device data is stored inside the operating system’s app sandbox.
• Encryption of the on-device database at rest is planned but not yet shipped; this policy will be updated when it is, and does not claim it today.

Third-party services

Lectio Cards relies on these third parties, solely to run the app:

• Apple — for distribution through the App Store.
• Your sign-in provider (for example, Google or Apple) — authenticates your login and holds your email; we receive only an account identifier.
• Our cloud hosting provider — hosts the sync server that stores your study-event journal against your account identifier.

There are no other third-party services, and no SDKs that report your activity to anyone.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the effective date above and add an entry to the change log below. Material changes are noted in the app’s release notes for the update that introduces them.
